From its earliest beginnings in New England in the 1820s, rug braiding has been a uniquely American craft and art form.  Learn about the impact of the early textile industry, the religious group that refined the craft, the influence of the Great Depression and the Extension Services of State Universities.  See the changing trends through time, and finish with the work of prominent rug braiders in the US.
